OpenAI simply made its largest acquisition but, scooping up Jony Ive and Sam Altman’s secretive machine startup, io, in a $6.5 billion all-equity deal. Ive, the legendary designer behind the iPhone and different iconic Apple merchandise, will now lead artistic and design work at OpenAI by means of his agency LoveFrom. The purpose? To take AI “past the display” and construct a brand new era of AI-powered shopper gadgets.
